FAQs

how long does a sesion last?

Sessions last for 50 minutes. They usually take place once a week, but can sometimes be more frequent.

Do you work private insurance companies?

Yes, I work with AXA, Aetna Global Benefits, Aviva, Bupa and Vitality Health. You will need to get an authorisation from the insurer before you can start your sessions. They normally approve a fixed number of sessions which sometimes can be extended. If you chose to pay for your sessions through insurance, I will ask you for your full name, address, date of birth and your insurance membership number as I will require this information to invoice your insurer.

is psychotherapy effective?

There is a vast number of research into the effectiveness of various treatment approaches and comparison studies which look at medication versus therapy and therapy versus supportive social contact. Overall, the verdict is that psychological therapy is effective in both short term and longer term in moderate and mix distress. Psychotherapy in addition to medication such as antidepressants, mood stabilisers or anti-psychotics, is more effective than medication alone.

are there any alternatives?

My way of working is not for everyone and I will tell if you I think a different clinician or approach could be more effective for you. There is a range of alternative treatments that I may talk to you about during assessment. It may be group psychotherapy, family therapy or medication, for example.
